Ian & Melissa

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Melissa contacted me just a few weeks before her wedding in dire need of a photographer. Melissa and I went to high school together but hadn’t seen each other since graduation, so I was surprised she had found out that I was now shooting weddings. Never underestimate the power of Facebook.

Melissa’s situation was peculiar. She had planned a getaway wedding down south but later found out that she would first need a civil marriage here in Canada. The civil marriage quickly grew into a small and intimate ceremony followed by a reception at a restaurant. She was now in need of a photographer on very short notice. I was more than happy to be her photographer and what a great evening it turned out to be. Good weather, good light and a good meal.

First we got a few shots of their of their baby girl Milla and then we made our way down Sparks street to catch a sunset.

The sunset was gorgeous and gave us beautiful golden light to work with.

Ian, always the gentleman.

There was a group of people whistling and cheering from an overhead balcony as we walked back to the restaurant.

We stopped by a bench on Sparks street to get a few more pictures before the reception.

Melissa showing off some of her tattoos.

A little alone time in the elevator before the reception.

Thanks Ian and Melissa for a great evening. I’m happy we finally had the chance to catch up on old times and enjoy your trip down South!
