Charles & Laura

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Deciding whether or not I should shoot my good friend’s wedding was at first a difficult decision. However, the more I thought about it the more I saw this as an opportunity to take pictures of a group of friends that I’ve spent the better part of 10+ years with and couldn’t live without.

Charles & Laura were the first couple amongst our group of friends to officially tie the knot. While we normally don’t need a reason to get together and celebrate, this celebration was going to be extra special as Charles & Laura were mere weeks away from moving their family to Ghana for 2-3 years.

The ceremony was held at a beautiful church just outside Montreal.

A short walk across the street brought us to a park with a canal were we got some great shots of the wedding party.

I couldn’t resist doing this shot!

One of my favorite shots of the day.

After that the wedding party had their fun it was time for some more intimate pictures.

Laura’s bouquet was gorgeous.

As expected, the reception was an all party that lasted into the early morning. Thanks Charles and Laura for an amazing wedding and best of luck with your move to Africa.

Ian & Melissa

Melissa contacted me just a few weeks before her wedding in dire need of a photographer. Melissa and I went to high school together but hadn’t seen each other since graduation, so I was surprised she had found out that I was now shooting weddings. Never underestimate the power of Facebook.

Melissa’s situation was peculiar. She had planned a getaway wedding down south but later found out that she would first need a civil marriage here in Canada. The civil marriage quickly grew into a small and intimate ceremony followed by a reception at a restaurant. She was now in need of a photographer on very short notice. I was more than happy to be her photographer and what a great evening it turned out to be. Good weather, good light and a good meal.

First we got a few shots of their of their baby girl Milla and then we made our way down Sparks street to catch a sunset.

The sunset was gorgeous and gave us beautiful golden light to work with.

Ian, always the gentleman.

There was a group of people whistling and cheering from an overhead balcony as we walked back to the restaurant.

We stopped by a bench on Sparks street to get a few more pictures before the reception.

Melissa showing off some of her tattoos.

A little alone time in the elevator before the reception.

Thanks Ian and Melissa for a great evening. I’m happy we finally had the chance to catch up on old times and enjoy your trip down South!
